Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to benzonatate, related compounds (such as tetracaine), or any component of the formulation.
Warnings and precautions
Release of benzonatate in the mouth can cause a temporary local anesthesia of the oral mucosa and difficulty swallowing. May produce changes in CNS, such as drowsiness, impaired coordination, blurred vision, increased anxiety, dizziness, sedation, tremor, agitation. May produce upset stomach or nausea. May produce numbness in chest or feeling of chill.
