Pharmacologic Category

Mechanism of action
Binds reversibly to the pituitary GnRH receptors, thereby reducing the release of gonadotropins and consequently testosterone.
Therapeutic use
Treatment of advanced prostate cancer.
Pregnancy and lactiation implications
Not indicated for use in women. Fetal harm can occur when administered to pregnant women. Not recommended during lactation.

Warnings and precautions
Long-term androgen deprivation therapy prolongs the QT interval.
