(1) Acetic acid, 2,2′-[(2-chloro-5-cyano-1,3-phenylene)diimino]bis[2-oxo-, compound with 2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:2); (2) N,N’-(2-Chloro-5-cyano-m-phenylene)dioxamic acid compound with 2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:2). Pharmacologic Category

EENT Preparations; Antiallergic Agents. Mast Cell Stabilizer. (ATC-Code: S01GX05).

Mechanism of action

Mast cell stabilizer that inhibits in vivo type I immediate hypersensitivity reaction to increase cutaneous vascular permeability associated with IgE and antigen-mediated reactions.

Therapeutic use

Treatment of vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, and vernal keratitis.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to lodoxamide tromethamine or any component of the formulation.

Warnings and precautions

Might cause transient burning or stinging. Contains benzalkonium chloride, which may be adsorbed by contact lenses. For ophthalmic use only; not for injection.
