Mechanism of action
Water-soluble saturated fatty acids. Once taken up by liver, used for metabolic energy before being stored.
Therapeutic use
Dietary supplement for those who cannot digest long chain fats. Malabsorption associated with disorders such as pancreatic insufficiency, bile salt deficiency, short bowel syndrome, and bacterial overgrowth of small bowel. Induce ketosis as prevention for seizures.
