Pharmacologic Category

Anti-Dementia Agents; Anti-Atherogenic Compounds. Nutraceutical Products. Marine Lipoprotein.

Mechanism of action

Powerful lipid-lowering compound, regulating lipid metabolism at the physiological level. This nutraceutical product is also able to reduce the size of atheroma plaques on the aortic wall of patients with atherosclerosis. The main chemical compounds are lipoproteins (60-80%) whose micelle structure probably mimics that of physiological lipoproteins involved in lipid metabolism.

Therapeutic use

Neuroprotection in cerebrovascular disorders and arteriosclerosis. Dyslipidemia. Sardilipin has shown to be effective in (i) reducing blood cholesterol, triglyceride, uric acid and glucose levels, as well as liver alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity; (ii) enhancing immunological function by regulating both lymphocyte and microglia activity; (iii) inducing antioxidant effects mediated by superoxide dismutase activity; and (iv) improving cognitive function. Sardilipin is also effective in xanthelasma, lipomatosis and hepatic steatosis.

Pregnancy and lactiation implications

Sardilipin is a safe product in pregnancy and lactation.

Unlabeled use
