Mechanism of action
Causes water retention in stool. Increases stool frequency and consistency.
Therapeutic use
Treatment of occasional constipation in adults.
Pregnancy and lactiation implications
Reproduction studies not conducted in animals or humans. Excretion in breast milk unknown (use caution).
Unlabeled use
Treatment of constipation in children.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol or any component of the formulation. Gastrointestinal obstruction.
Warnings and precautions
Not intended for use as bowel evacuant prior to gastrointestinal examination. Should not be used for longer than 2 weeks.
